Gardenia
Gardenia (Gardenia jasminoides) is a classic evergreen shrub loved for its glossy green leaves and fragrant white blooms that appear in spring and summer. Perfect for foundation plantings, borders, or containers, it brings timeless beauty and a rich scent to Florida landscapes.
Care Needs:
• Light: Full sun to partial shade; prefers morning sun and afternoon shade
• Water: Keep soil consistently moist but well-drained; avoid letting it dry out completely
• Pruning: Prune lightly after flowering to shape and remove spent blooms
• Fertilizer: Feed every 4–6 weeks during the growing season with an acid-forming fertilizer
*Specialty varieties tend to be less susceptible to disease, hardier, more fragrant, and produce more blooms.
