Southern Red Cedar
Juniperus virginiana var. silicicola
The hardy Southern Red Cedar looks great in mass plantings as a screen, but also does great as a standalone accent!
Water Requirements: Low water needs. Drier conditions are preferred. Highly drought tolerant.
Soil: Well-draining soil is preferred, but is highly tolerant of any soil, even doing well in poor soils.
Growth Rate: Fast
Bloom Time: Grayish-blue berries in late winter.
Temperature: Highly heat and cold hardy.
Pruning: Not necessary
Toxicity: Only toxic in large amounts.
