Pawpaw (Asimina triloba) is a small deciduous tree native to the eastern United States, including parts of Florida. It produces large, tropical-looking leaves and unique, maroon spring flowers that give way to custard-like yellow fruits in late summer. The fruit has a sweet, banana-mango flavor and is beloved by wildlife and people alike. Pawpaw is also the only host plant for the zebra swallowtail butterfly, making it a valuable addition to native and pollinator gardens.
