Not a true palm, the Sago Palm (Cycas revoluta) is a slow-growing plant prized for its symmetrical shape and glossy, deep green fronds. Its compact size makes it ideal for foundation plantings, containers, or tropical-inspired landscapes.

Care Needs:

  • Light: Full sun to partial shade
  • Water: Drought tolerant once established
  • Soil: Prefers sandy, slightly acidic, well-draining soil
  • Temperature: Hardy to 20°F; protect from frost
  • Pruning: Remove only fully dead fronds
  • Tips: Wear gloves when handling due to spines; can be grown indoors as a houseplant

All parts of the Sago Palm are considered to be highly toxic to both pets, people, and livestock. The seeds are particularly toxic to dogs.
