Lavandula spp., commonly known as lavender, is an evergreen perennial prized for its fragrant foliage and spikes of purple flowers. Loved for its calming aroma and long bloom season, lavender is an excellent choice for borders, herb gardens, containers, and pollinator gardens. Once established, it is highly tolerant of heat and drought.
Care Needs:
• Light: Full sun
• Water: Water regularly until established; once established, allow the soil to dry between waterings and avoid overwatering
• Pruning: Prune lightly after flowering to maintain a compact shape; avoid cutting into old woody stems
• Fertilizer: Lavender thrives in lean soils and rarely requires fertilizer; if needed, apply a light application of a balanced, slow-release fertilizer in spring
