Mike Zafforoni
Owner
Mike founded Liberty Landscape Supply in 2007 and has grown the company from a small local operation into one of the leading landscape supply businesses in the Southeast. Under his leadership, Liberty has expanded to six locations across Northeast Florida, built a team of more than 160 employees, and earned national recognition as one of the Top 100 Garden Centers in North America by Garden Center Magazine, most recently ranking #34.
A graduate of Florida State University with a degree in Hospitality Administration, Mike combines an entrepreneurial mindset with a strong focus on customer service, operational growth, and long-term community investment. He enjoys the challenge of building businesses, developing teams, and creating systems that support sustainable growth while maintaining Liberty’s commitment to service and quality.
Mike remains actively involved in civic and business leadership throughout the region. His involvement includes the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Small Business Council, the JAX Chamber Board of Directors and Executive Committee, and numerous local nonprofit and advisory organizations. Over the years, he has been recognized with several honors, including the Florida Small Business Person of the Year award and JAX Chamber’s Small Business Leader of the Year.
Outside of work, Mike enjoys spending time outdoors, supporting community initiatives, and continuing to explore opportunities that positively impact Northeast Florida. He also has a deep appreciation for landscaping and outdoor spaces, especially projects that bring people together and enhance the communities Liberty serves.
Scott
Accounting Director
Scott brings more than 30 years of experience in accounting and finance, with a background spanning manufacturing, pharmaceuticals, steel, and automotive industries. He earned his accounting degree from Capital University in Ohio and joined Liberty in June 2023, where he supports the company’s financial operations and internal systems with a steady, detail-focused approach.
At Liberty, Scott enjoys working closely with his team to support efficient and consistent financial processes. He values the collaboration required to keep a growing organization organized and aligned. When it comes to plants, he does not claim a favorite, joking that he is more of a “Plantie” who simply knows what looks good.
Outside of work, Scott stays active and enjoys spending time outdoors. He has played adult league baseball for over 20 years and also enjoys golfing, riding his Harley, and working around his yard and pool. Since moving from Ohio to Florida, he has developed a growing appreciation for southern landscapes and outdoor living.
Laura
HR Director
Laura brings over 18 years of experience in Human Resources, with a background spanning employee relations, benefits, payroll, compliance, and organizational development. She holds certifications as a SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-CP) and Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR), along with additional studies in Human Resource Management. Her background in Architecture and Urban Design adds a thoughtful, detail-oriented perspective to her work.
At Liberty, Laura focuses on supporting employees and contributing to a positive, people-centered workplace culture. She values being part of a growing organization that prioritizes both its people and its progress. Her favorite plant is the hydrangea, appreciated for its color, structure, and seasonal character.
Outside of work, Laura enjoys spending time with her family and exploring creative interests such as design, decorating, writing, and photography. She also enjoys music, cooking, and attending concerts, and appreciates how plants and natural elements bring warmth and texture into everyday spaces.
Chase
General Manager of St. Augustine
Chase brings 20 years of management experience, beginning his career in retail and building a strong foundation in team leadership and operations. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Armstrong University. Over the past five years with Liberty, he has developed a growing knowledge of plants and the landscape supply industry, adding hands-on experience to his management background.
At Liberty, Chase values being part of a local business and the challenges and opportunities that come with its continued growth. He believes in doing right by people and leaving things better than he found them, an approach that guides his day-to-day work. His favorite plant is tibouchina, known for its bold color and standout presence in the landscape.
Outside of work, Chase enjoys spending time with his family; chasing his one-year old around, spending time with his wife, and watching his oldest son play baseball. He is a big sports fan and loves supporting the Georgia Bulldogs.
Dan
General Manager of Fernandina Beach
Dan brings over 45 years of experience in the horticulture industry, beginning his career at age 17 in Michigan. He holds an Associate’s degree in Horticulture from Oakland University and is a Michigan Certified Nurseryman (MCN), bringing decades of practical knowledge and industry experience. He joined Liberty two and a half years ago and is a valued and experienced member of the team.
At Liberty, Dan values working alongside a team he considers among the most hardworking and genuine people he has encountered in his career. His favorite plant is the paperbark maple, known for its distinctive exfoliating bark and rich fall color.
Outside of work, Dan enjoys woodworking, with a focus on crafting tables, and has a long-standing passion for music. He plays guitar and bass and enjoys singing. He also values time with his family, especially his four children and seven grandsons.
Matt
General Manager of South Jacksonville
Matt brings over 15 years of experience leading teams and managing operations, with a strong focus on keeping things running smoothly and maintaining high standards. A Jacksonville native and graduate of Florida State University, he is a lifelong Seminoles fan.
At Liberty, Matt enjoys the variety the business offers and the fast-paced environment where no two days are the same. He values the pace and consistency required to keep operations moving effectively. His favorite plant is Lakeview jasmine, which he appreciates for its fragrance and classic, timeless look.
Outside of work, Matt is a family man with two kids and spends as much time with them as he can. He enjoys being outdoors and around the water, and now shares that with his kids by teaching them to surf and enjoy the beach the same way he did growing up in Jacksonville.
Tony
General Manager of Commercial Installation
Tony brings 19 years of management experience, with a strong background in operations, team leadership, and maintaining high standards. He holds certifications as a Florida Certified Landscape Technician (FCLT) and in Advanced Maintenance of Traffic, adding both industry knowledge and technical expertise to his role. Since joining Liberty two and a half years ago, he has played an important role in supporting efficient and well-executed operations within the commercial division.
At Liberty, Tony values the company’s culture and the strong, team-oriented environment. He appreciates being part of an organization that prioritizes both performance and people. His favorite plant is hibiscus, which he enjoys for its bold color and tropical presence.
Outside of work, Tony enjoys spending time with his family, including trips to Disney and traveling together. He also keeps up with the Miami Dolphins and enjoys following the season.
Jorge
General Manager of Residential Installation
Jorge brings 23 years of experience in the landscape industry, with a background spanning sales, commercial and residential installation, procurement, and project management. His hands-on experience leading crews and managing jobs has given him a strong understanding of what it takes to execute work efficiently and at a high level. He has been with Liberty for over seven years combined, including time with the company in its earlier days.
At Liberty, Jorge values the company’s continuous pursuit of excellence and its focus on delivering a strong customer experience while investing in employee growth. He enjoys staying closely involved in day-to-day operations and projects, bringing a hands-on approach to his work. His favorite plant is the live oak, a staple of the Northeast Florida landscape known for its strength, longevity, and presence.
Outside of work, Jorge enjoys spending time with family and staying connected to the industry and environment he has worked in throughout his career.
Brandi
General Manager of Residential Installation
Brandi brings nearly a decade of experience in the landscape industry. She holds an Associate’s degree in Fire Science from St. Johns River State College and a Project Management Certificate from the University of North Florida. She joined Liberty two years ago, starting as an assistant manager at the St. Augustine retail location before stepping into her current role as General Manager of the Southern Residential Installation Division.
At Liberty, Brandi enjoys being part of a team that is actively growing and involved in the community. She values the company’s vision and leadership, and especially appreciates the hands-on nature of the work. As she puts it, getting to work with plants every day and help shape landscapes across the area is a pretty good gig. Her favorite plants lean toward the unique side, particularly variegated varieties like Monstera Albo, which she appreciates for their contrast and rarity.
Outside of work, Brandi spends as much time outdoors as possible, whether at the beach, in the water, or catching a sunrise or sunset. She enjoys adventuring with her family and has a wide range of interests, from music and concerts to space and stargazing. At home, she keeps busy with a variety of animals and also enjoys following local and college sports.
