Diospyros kaki and Diospyros virginiana, commonly known as persimmon trees, are deciduous fruit trees prized for their sweet, flavorful fruit and brilliant fall foliage. Fun fact: persimmons become much sweeter as they ripen, and many varieties are best enjoyed only after they soften completely. They are attractive landscape trees that provide both ornamental beauty and abundant harvests.

Care Needs:
• Light: Full sun
• Water: Water regularly until established; once established, water deeply during extended dry periods
• Pruning: Prune in late winter to remove dead or crossing branches and maintain an open canopy
• Fertilizer: Apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring if needed; avoid excessive nitrogen, which can reduce fruit production
