Acca sellowiana, commonly known as pineapple guava or feijoa, is an evergreen shrub or small tree prized for its aromatic flowers and sweet, tropical-flavored fruit. Fun fact: the flower petals are edible and have a sweet, marshmallow-like flavor, making them a unique addition to salads and desserts. Pineapple guava is also valued as an attractive landscape plant, with silvery foliage and excellent tolerance to heat and drought once established.
Care Needs:
• Light: Full sun to partial sun
• Water: Water regularly until established; once established, water deeply during extended dry periods, especially while fruit is developing
• Pruning: Prune after harvest or in late winter to maintain shape, improve air circulation, and remove dead or crossing branches
• Fertilizer: Apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring; avoid excessive nitrogen, which can reduce fruit production
