Malpighia emarginata, commonly known as Barbados cherry or acerola, is an evergreen shrub or small tree prized for its bright red fruit and ornamental pink flowers. Fun fact: acerola cherries contain one of the highest natural concentrations of vitamin C of any fruit—often more than 30 times that of an orange. The tart, juicy fruit is commonly eaten fresh or used in juices, jams, and preserves.

Care Needs:
• Light: Full sun
• Water: Water regularly until established; once established, water deeply during extended dry periods, especially while flowering and fruiting
• Pruning: Prune after harvest or as needed to maintain shape and encourage branching
• Fertilizer: Apply a balanced fruit tree fertilizer in early spring and every 2–3 months during the growing season
