Vitis spp., commonly known as the grape vine, is a vigorous deciduous vine prized for its clusters of sweet fruit and attractive foliage. Fun fact: a well-maintained grape vine can remain productive for 50 years or more, producing abundant harvests season after season. Whether grown for fresh eating, juice, jams, or winemaking, grape vines make an excellent addition to edible landscapes.
Care Needs:
• Light: Full sun
• Water: Water regularly until established; once established, water deeply during extended dry periods, especially during fruit development
• Pruning: Prune annually during the dormant season to encourage vigorous growth and maximize fruit production
• Fertilizer: Apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring if needed; avoid excessive nitrogen, which promotes foliage over fruit
