Citrosa (Pelargonium citrosum), commonly known as mosquito plant or citronella geranium, is a fragrant annual grown for its citrus-scented foliage that is often used to help repel mosquitoes. In North Florida and South Georgia, it thrives in warm, sunny conditions and produces small, pale pink to lavender flowers throughout the growing season. Its compact, bushy growth habit makes it ideal for containers, borders, and patio plantings, adding both fragrance and color to outdoor spaces.
Care Needs:
• Light: Full sun to partial sun
• Water: Keep soil evenly moist but well-drained; allow the top inch to dry between waterings
• Pruning: Pinch back tips to encourage bushier growth and remove spent flowers
• Fertilizer: Apply a balanced fertilizer every 4–6 weeks during the growing season for continuous growth
