Echinacea spp.

This lovely perennial will add a vertical aspect to a landscape as well as attract songbirds!

Water Requirements: Allow to dry out between waterings. Drought tolerant once established!

Soil: Loose, well draining soil with added compost for fertility.

Growth Rate: Fast

Bloom Time: Summer

Pruning: Deadheading is not necessary, but can be done if desired. It is recommended to cut back coneflowers to the ground once they are done blooming. They will come back strong!

Toxicity: There is evidence that Coneflowers can be toxic.

Tips: It is recommended not to fertilize coneflowers, especially if compost is added to the soil. Over fertilization can cause an increased development of foliage, and a greatly decreased development of blooms.
