Anise (Illicium spp.) is an evergreen shrub known for its aromatic, star-shaped leaves and resilience in shaded, moist areas. Commonly used as a screen or foundation plant in Northeast Florida, it offers dense foliage, fragrant greenery, and, in some varieties, small, star-like flowers. Hardy and low-maintenance, Anise provides year-round texture and a pleasant scent when the leaves are crushed.

Care Needs:
• Light: Partial to full shade; tolerates some morning sun
• Water: Prefers consistently moist, well-drained soil; do not allow to fully dry out
• Pruning: Prune lightly after flowering or as needed to maintain shape
• Fertilizer: Apply a balanced, slow-release fertilizer in spring
