Croton (Codiaeum variegatum) is a tropical foliage plant known for its thick, glossy leaves marked with bold patterns of green, yellow, red, orange, and purple. Commonly used as an accent plant in landscapes or containers in North Florida, croton provides strong color and texture year-round when protected from cold.
Care Needs:
• Light: Full sun to partial sun; brighter light brings out stronger leaf color
• Water: Moderate; water regularly and allow soil to drain well
• Pruning: Remove damaged or leggy growth to maintain shape
• Fertilizer: Apply a balanced, slow-release fertilizer during the growing season
