Musa spp., commonly known as banana tree or banana plant, is a fast-growing tropical perennial prized for its large, lush leaves and bold architectural appearance. Although often called a tree, bananas are herbaceous plants that form from underground rhizomes and produce new stems each season. Bananas create a tropical feel in landscapes, patios, and containers, with some varieties producing edible fruit while others are grown primarily for their ornamental foliage.

Care Needs:
• Light: Full sun to partial shade; provide full sun for best growth and fruit production, though some protection from intense afternoon sun can benefit young plants
• Water: Water regularly to keep soil consistently moist but not saturated; established plants require more water during hot, dry periods
• Pruning: Remove damaged or yellowing leaves as needed; cut back spent fruiting stems after harvest to encourage new growth from surrounding shoots
• Fertilizing: Apply a balanced fertilizer regularly during the growing season; bananas are heavy feeders and benefit from additional potassium to support healthy growth and fruit production
