Coontie Palm (Zamia integrifolia) is a hardy, low-growing cycad native to Florida and the southeastern United States. As the only cycad native to Florida, it holds both ecological and historical significance. Known for its lush, feathery, dark green foliage and palm-like appearance, this ancient plant adds a refined, tropical touch to landscapes. Its compact size and drought tolerance make it ideal for borders, foundation plantings, or massed groundcover.

Care Needs:

  • Light: Full sun to partial shade; tolerates a variety of light conditions
  • Water: Low to moderate; allow soil to dry between waterings
  • Soil: Well-draining, sandy or loamy soil
  • Temperature: Cold-hardy to about 20°F; excellent for USDA zones 8–11
  • Growth Rate: Slow
