Podocarpus macrophyllus
This dense, slow growing shrub can be shaped into a hedge or privacy screen.
The first podocarpus tree with distinctive blue foliage! New growth emerges lime-gray-blue then matures to a cool gray-blue-green. One of the most beautiful and decorative pyramidal conifers for the South. An excellent specimen, lawn or screen tree. Evergreen. There has been no report of this plant coning, so it has not been determined if this dioecious conifer is a male or a female selection.
Water Requirements: Moderate water needs. Drought tolerant once established.
Soil: Rich, moist, slightly acidic. Will tolerate poor soils.
Growth Rate: Slow
Bloom Time: Bluish-Gray berries in Summer
Temperature: Warm and humid
Pruning: Prune in late summer as desired.
Toxicity: Mildly toxic if ingested
