Tulbaghia violacea, commonly known as society garlic, is a clump-forming perennial valued for its fragrant, grass-like foliage and clusters of lavender to purple flowers that bloom over a long season. Despite its name, it is grown primarily as an ornamental and is a reliable choice for borders, mass plantings, rock gardens, and containers. Its heat, drought, and deer resistance make it especially well suited for North Florida and South Georgia landscapes.
