Curcuma alismatifolia, commonly known as Siam tulip, is a tropical perennial valued for its colorful, tulip-like flower bracts in shades of pink, purple, or white that rise above lush green foliage. Blooming throughout the warm season, it adds an exotic touch to garden beds, borders, and containers and thrives in the warm, humid conditions of North Florida and South Georgia.
Care Needs:
• Light: Partial sun to full shade
• Water: Keep soil consistently moist but well-drained during the growing season; reduce watering during dormancy
• Pruning: Remove spent flower stalks and trim back foliage after it naturally dies back in fall or winter
• Fertilizer: Apply a balanced, slow-release fertilizer in early spring and again every 6–8 weeks during active growth
