Helichrysum petiolare, commonly known as false licorice plant or licorice plant, is a trailing foliage plant valued for its soft, silvery-gray leaves and cascading growth habit. Primarily grown for its ornamental foliage rather than its flowers, it adds texture and contrast to containers, hanging baskets, borders, and mixed plantings. Its heat tolerance and drought resistance make it a reliable choice for seasonal color combinations.
Care Needs:
• Light: Full sun to partial sun
• Water: Water regularly until established; once established, allow soil to dry slightly between waterings
• Pruning: Trim as needed to maintain shape and encourage dense growth
• Fertilizer: Apply a balanced fertilizer every 4–6 weeks during the growing season to support healthy foliage
